Hot New Cell Phone : Samsung U700 Gleam

Samsung U700 Gleam Black Phone (Verizon Wireless)

Nicely slim and featuring a unique new living wallpaper user interface, the Samsung U700 Gleam is your mobile telecommunication and entertainment partner. It's compatible with Verizon's V Cast Music service, which enables you to purchase songs through your phone and download them via Verizon's fast EV-DO data network, as well as V Cast Video for streamed video clips from a variety of channels. Other features include a 2-megapixel camera with video capture, Bluetooth connectivity with stereo music streaming, MicroSD memory card expansion, and a 2.1-inch screen.

The Samsung Gleam has a glossy metallic silver and black exterior and a unique living wallpaper capability that enables you to easily see the phoneĆ¢€™s status with either a driver's view of an animated country or city street with dashboard-like dials that changes with the time of day. An external LCD (96 x 96 pixels, 65K colors) also displays an analog clock in addition to signal strength, current time, and battery life. The internal 2.1-inch LCD has a 240 x 320-pixel resolution, support for 262K colors, and 8 lines of text.

The 2-megapixel camera snaps pictures in six resolution options from 1600 x 1200 (2 MP) to 176 x 144 (QCIF), and it includes digital zoom, three quality settings, brightness and white balance controls, multi-shot capability, night mode, and spot metering. For video capture, the Z6tv records clips in MPEG4 format in two resolutions--320 x 240 and 176 x 144 pixels. You can shoot video as long as your memory card has available space, and videos shot for MMS messaging are capped at 30 seconds. The digital audio player is compatible with MP3 and WMA files and offers a shuffle mode.
This phone provides Bluetooth version 1.2 wireless connectivity, and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and audio/video remote control. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. You can connect your laptop (either via Bluetooth or wired USB) and enjoy dial-up networking--surf the Internet, send email, and access files from a server.

A messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse, support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound and video via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. Instant messaging is also supported, and the phone ships with a built-in email client. The Gleam also comes stock with a built-in web browser for downloads and mobile web browsing. T9 text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for entering text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

The Gleam's internal phone book can hold up to 500 contact entries with five phone numbers and two emails per entry, while the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures to your most common callers. The RIZR's voice dialing feature makes calling family, friends, and business associates as easy as saying their names.

  • MicroSD expansion up to 4 GB
  • PIM tools: Calendar with scheduler, note pad, alarm clock, world time, calculator, unit converter
